A field of 100 riders gathers in the Arabian Desert for the 100 mile (160km) 2005 UAE President’s Cup – more than half of them invited from abroad to challenge the local riders who’ve dominated this event in recent years. A strong International field including American, Australian, French, Spanish and British riders join the World Champions, the Italians, and of course the local favourites in this gruelling physical and psychological challenge. There’ll be tears and triumphs, old scores will be settled and both hearts and records will be broken in a ten hour marathon which will see only a fraction of the original starting field complete the course.
