European Open Poker
From The Poker Den Studios, East London
As the poker boom gathers pace, Matchroom Sport has introduced a brand new event featuring all the big names of European poker.
Featuring 72 players, each buying in at $10,000, the total prize fund at the European Open is $720,000 with a whopping $300,000 going to the winner.
To satisfy the huge demand for televised poker, Matchroom Sport has constructed their very own custom built TV studio – the Poker Den in the heart of London’s East End. This facility will play host to the European Open over eight ultra-competitive days of high stakes Texas Hold’em Poker. In addition to the big names of tournament poker, there are also major celebrities taking part, as well as online qualifiers from across the globe.
Sponsored by PartyPoker.com, the world’s largest online poker room, the European Open features 12 first round tables of six players with a preliminary celebrity qualifying table. The successful competitors then move forward to the final where the destination of the big money will be decided.
The programming features some innovative new ideas as well as the under-the-table camera which allows the viewer to see the all-important ‘hole cards’ on which all gambling strategies are based.
